The Flow Journey

You told them you needed five minutes. They lasted eleven seconds.

If you just laughed, and also felt a little like crying, you are in exactly the right place.

This is The Flow Journey. A weekly letter for the one who used to know exactly who they were, before life got wonderfully, exhaustingly full.

Maybe you are a parent now. Maybe you are also a partner, a professional, a sibling, a friend — layered in roles you love and roles that perhaps drain you. Maybe somewhere underneath all of it, there is a version of you that has been waiting. The one with the passion you keep postponing. The calling you can hear but can’t quite reach. The life that feels like it is just one brave step away, if only you could find a moment of silence long enough to take it.

You have not lost that person. They are still in there.

This is where you come to find your way back.

“So that you know, the reason I am supporting what you do, is that in these dire times, we collectively need to believe that an alternative is possible to the existential rat race so many of us are in...

What you are doing is an inspiring example of how life can be like when you stop adhering to societal norms that have proven not to be sustainable for the planet and living beings.”

- Stefano, father of one

From Origami Letters…To Flow

As a child, I wrote daily letters to my best friend, folding them into origami shapes. Even though we spoke every day, these letters let us dive deeper into our inner worlds. Those tiny papers were my first taste of reflection, connection, and what I now call flow.

Over time, letters became messages, ink pens became keyboards, and I lost touch with that art of creation. Until exploring AI a few years ago reminded me of my love for writing and storytelling. That is also when I realized: these moments of reflection and self-expression are too precious not to share.

Every story, reflection, and letter I write here is an invitation to notice flow in your own life, even in the moments you might think are too ordinary, too small, too interrupted to matter.

“There is a flowy lightness to Connie’s writing that makes it a joy to read. But I quickly realized that despite it being so easy to read, I have to – or better say I want to - step away from the distractions of daily life and give it my full attention. Her stories completely absorb you, engaging both your thoughts and your emotions. By giving us a glimpse into her fascinating life, Connie holds up a gentle mirror, giving us to room to reflect on our own behavioral patterns and giving us food for thought without ever being prescriptive. It is a beautiful, enriching experience and I always feel like receiving a little gift when opening one of her newsletters.”

What Flow Means To Me

I strongly believe that a life of flow is a life well lived.

To me, flow is more than just a moment in time. It is a series of moments that melts into one. Sometimes it lasts five minutes and sometimes five years, where focus, creativity, and joy converge. Challenges still come. But in flow, I ride life’s ups and downs like a surfer on a wave, fully present, fully alive.

Flow is not a destination. It is not something you earn when the children are older, or the work is calmer, or the timing is finally right. It is available now, in the life you are already living. Sometimes it just needs a little tending.

What if all of us collectively did our best to bathe in awe-inspiring experiences — to expand our humanness and aliveness, and flow from one moment to the next?

A Bit About Me

I am Connie. Mother, writer, co-founder, nomad, and someone who spent years following a subtle internal pull that I couldn’t always explain to the people I loved most.

I have not always lived this way. There was a version of me who also waited. Who chose the careful path. Who wondered if the longing I felt was reasonable, or responsible, or even real. I know what it feels like to be standing in the middle of a good life and sensing, underneath it all, that something is still missing.

Today I am exploring the world with my husband and two daughters, three years and counting, worldschooling on the road, building a creative life from the inside out. Not because I had it all figured out. But because one day I decided to take one small step in the direction of the pull. And then another. And then another.

Writing this newsletter is how I make sense of it all — the beauty, the mess, the uncertainty, the joy — and how I share what I am learning, week by week, in the hope that something in it stirs something in you.

What You Will Find Here

This is not a place that will tell you what to do or how to live. It is a place that will walk beside you.

Each week you will find:

  • A story or reflection that holds up a gentle mirror, so you can see your own life a little more clearly, without judgment.

  • A reminder that the life you keep putting off is still possible, and closer than you think.

  • Honest, warm company from someone who is also still learning, still practicing, still occasionally counting to eleven.

“I have known Connie over a number of years now and have followed her various paths with interest. Connie is one of the most soulful people that I know, and so I knew that her writing would be something that I would enjoy, that I would learn from and that would make me think. That has certainly proven to be the case!

Connie’s way of describing insights and emotions come from the heart, but also from a mind attuned to the people and places around her. I particularly like that Connie’s writing is very personal and humble, and is not trying to tell others how to think but rather to share her experiences in a genuine and generous way.

I look forward to plenty more stories and thoughts from Connie.”

“I’ve been reading and enjoying Connie’s Substack for a long time now and I’m consistently delighted in her writing, story telling and self-awareness. She doesn’t have all the answers, none of us do, but she is open and raw about the journey. I relate to so many aspects of her writing, especially as she leads us from her past to her present. As a mom, I find the parenting journey resonates too and we all desire the family flow she writes so tenderly about. I think anyone on a journey of reflection, travel and family will enjoy reading or listening to Connie’s Substack!”
